Gold Tuna Bangi-dong: The Viral Must-Visit Spot for 2026 Korea Travel

Welcoming International Foodies: A Special Visit from Taiwan to Goldtuna Bangi

In July 2026, we were delighted to welcome a group of guests from Taiwan to Goldtuna’s Bangi branch.

While we couldn't confirm exactly how they found us or their specific relationship, their bright energy was infectious. After enjoying their premium tuna omakase (chef's choice course), they gathered in front of the chef's counter to capture a commemorative photo.

This visit is a wonderful reflection of the growing trend of Taiwanese travelers seeking authentic culinary experiences in Seoul.

The Growing Wave of Taiwanese Tourists in South Korea

In 2025, approximately 1.89 million Taiwanese tourists visited South Korea, making Taiwan the third-largest source of international visitors. For 2026, the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) has set an ambitious goal to attract 2.32 million visitors from Taiwan.

This upward trend continues. In the first quarter of 2026 alone, 544,503 Taiwanese tourists visited Korea, a significant 37.7% increase compared to the same period last year.

Global travel from Taiwan is booming overall. In 2025, there were 18.94 million outbound trips from Taiwan, with South Korea ranking as the third most popular destination after Japan and China.

From Taipei to Bangi-dong: A Culinary Destination

For many international visitors, a trip to Seoul is no longer limited to famous tourist hubs like Myeong-dong or the royal palaces.

Modern travelers are venturing into residential and business districts to find the best food. They are balancing visits to historic landmarks with the chance to experience the actual restaurants that locals love.

Our Taiwanese guests chose to spend their evening at Goldtuna in Bangi-dong, Songpa-gu.

Bangi-dong isn't traditionally classified as a "tourist zone," so the fact that global foodies are seeking us out shows how travel patterns are evolving towards authentic local experiences.

While we don't know exactly if they found us through social media, video content, or a friend's recommendation, we are simply grateful they chose Goldtuna for their special Seoul dinner.

Dining as the Main Event of the Journey

In the past, overseas travel was about checking off lists of landmarks.

Today, food itself is the destination. Travelers research restaurants, watch videos, and build their itineraries around specific dining spots. They aren't just looking for a meal; they want to immerse themselves in the dining culture and atmosphere of the country.

With short flight times and frequent connections between Korea and Taiwan, repeat visits are common. As travelers visit more often, they are more likely to explore neighborhoods and restaurants beyond the usual tourist traps. Our Taiwanese guests are a perfect example of this exciting trend.
