While the tourist landmarks and the exotic dishes are memorable, certain scenes remain vivid long after the trip is over. It's often the moments spent at a table—who was there and the stories shared—that stick with us most.
On the lunch of August 6th, there was such a table at Goldtuna Bangi-dong. A family living in Canada visited during their Seoul trip, accompanied by their daughter’s friend.
A Seoul Dining Experience: Switching from Dinner to Lunch
Their initial plan was a dinner reservation.
However, as dinner slots were fully booked that day, the group adjusted their schedule and visited our Bangi-dong branch for lunch instead.
When traveling, meal times often intertwine with other plans. One must consider sightseeing schedules, travel times, and the preferences of every family member.
This family chose a bright afternoon over the evening. And so, six people sat together at one large table.

A Family Table Shared with a Dear Friend
What catches the eye in this photo is not just their nationality, but the composition of the group.
The daughter's friend joined the parents and children on this family trip. A family table was extended to include someone special in the child's life.
A restaurant during a trip is more than just a place to eat; it's a place where travelers, who are always on the move, finally sit down for a while. At a tourist site, everyone looks in the same direction, but at the dining table, we look into each other's faces.

The Connection Between Food and Fellowship
Running a restaurant has taught me that the memory of food and the memory of people are inseparable.
We often remember a dish because of who we ate it with, and sometimes a specific food can suddenly bring back memories of a person we haven't seen in years.
This is why we have long recorded the photos of our guests at Goldtuna.
While the tuna cuts and omakase courses are the components of the meal, what remains in the photos is rarely just the food. It’s the sight of family, friends, lovers, and colleagues sitting together.
The same is true for the photo from August 6th.
While there is tuna in the center, the most prominent part of the picture is the faces of the six people.

'Memories of Sitting Face to Face'
These days, I am refining a manuscript for a book titled *How Much is Your Heart Capital?*
It’s not just a book about the restaurant business. It’s a project where I reflect on what remains in my life through people, relationships, work, failure, and the process of starting over—summarized as "Heart Capital."
There is a chapter titled "Memories of Sitting Face to Face While Eating Together."
In that chapter, I wrote this sentence:
“Some meals are remembered more by the faces than the menu.”

This thought came naturally after meeting countless people at the restaurant.
A meal disappears once eaten. However, who you sat across from that day often resurfaces in unexpected moments much later.
I don't know how this family will remember their lunch on August 6th after returning to Canada.
But at Goldtuna, there remains a photo of these six people sitting together at a table in Bangi-dong, Seoul. For us, that is reason enough to record this meal.
